Programs & Outreach
with McManus Comedies
|
Tim tours all four, distinct McManus Comedies all the time, so each of the four shows is available. Each is described in detail in our spiral bound brochure.
We usually begin touring in a geographic area with the first play: A Fine and Pleasant Misery. Often we are asked back to perform the sequel, McManus In Love. Pot Luck premiered in the summer of 1999 and is quite a departure, but equally funny. In addition to these three, Tim now performs a fourth, entitled Scrambled McManus, which consists of favorite excerpts from the other three. Even though it is a mélange of material, we still developed a distinctly new "through line," dealing with the concept of "story" and its power, and Scrambled includes 30 minutes of totally new material, as well.
Each of these shows consists of two complete acts and each lasts about 2 hours. Each is a full play, with distinct through lines, plots, characters and situations. Tim plays a total of 33 of Pat's characters from his fictional boyhood town of Blight, Idaho. Since Pat's 13 books sell quite well across the country, many of these characters and some of their antics and misadventures will be familiar to all audiences. Some of the stories are taken from the books, but many are written directly for the stage.
Outreach Opportunities include:
|
a.) Acting Workshop: Tim conducts a 2-1/2 to 3 hour acting workshop for students of all ages, and indeed, for adults as well. He also conducts advanced workshops that can be piggy-backed onto the initial one, so as to fill a complete day of residency. Click here for more details.
b.) School Performances: Tim selects material from all the shows to present to school audiences, grades 5 through 12. The material differs considerably depending on the age of the audience. Performances last from 45 to 60 minutes. Click here for more details.
